Can You Become Allegoric To Cac

can you become allegoric to cac

minna_genki: Gocha Maze! 1/31

Sorry for the delay! A bird had to snooze.

Our four hosts are in~
And its the end of January~
They talk about the things they hate about winter. Bobby suspects its getting worse for him because he's getting old and he has scars that hurt in the cold
Joshima: But winter was a lot colder when we were kids. Right TETSUYA-san?

TETSUYA: I don't have scars, but my knees hurt when it's cold. I take hot baths and it feels good.

He has this in both legs, and insists its not because of any injuries. Plus..
TETSUYA: I used to have that all the time but come to think of it, it hasn't happened in the last few years. Maybe because I'm healthier? I don't think I get as cold as I used to, it must be because I'm healthy.

Joshima mentions how cold the studio used to be for work and TETSUYA replies that its always warm for him, causing Bobby to exclaim about how fancy it must be XD

Nao talks about how she defeated her constant feeling of cold by drinking hot water in the morning and before bed. It warms her up from the inside.

Bobby thinks Japan is a very cold country, compared to his home in Africa.
Bobby: Its so cold I can't even tell if its cold or hot.

They start talking about allergies as Bobby suspects he has those, since he always gets colds too.
This leads into talking about (surgical) face masks and Bobby explains that in his country, people don't do that. When there's a need, like for example when sand blows in from the desert, they wear turbans with cloth covering their faces. The three Japanese hosts go EHHH.

Back to allergies, TETSUYA is only allergic to animal fur, and so he has to make sure its super clean all the time if he visits a place where a pet lives.
Bobby: What would you do if your girlfriend insisted on getting a pet?
TETSUYA just snickers.

Joshima is terribly allergic to cats but not to dogs. It's weird because he grew up having cats around, but now he can't be around them.

They then talk about health tips, how to not catch colds.

TETSUYA: Don't drink cold things, get lots of exercise, and stay in the bath for at least 20 minutes.
He specifies that it has to be not too hot, "just 40 degrees" which Joshima thinks is too hot to stay more than 10 minutes.
TETSUYA: I stay there and watch TV for at least 20 minutes.

Bobby prefers showers to baths so he won't be trying that one. He only takes baths when its in an onsen, and even that took him a long time to get used to. He talks about his onsen history for a bit and at one point TETSUYA calls Bobby a comedian.

Bobby: I'm not a comedian, I just work very hard. I have to think hard every day or else I won't be able to think at all.

Soon enough, it's time for a song.

Fanmail time!

1. (read by a Banana!) From a listener who wants advice. They have a crush on a girl at work but found out that she has a boyfriend, and is getting conflicting advice about whether he should give up or try even harder to steal her away.

Bobby thinks he should be friends with her and wait for a chance, unless the boyfriend is also a friend of his.
Joshima figures that's not the case, based on the letter.

They ask Nao for her opinion, and she says that it would be good if they get to be close enough friends that she can tell him about her boyfriend. But she also thinks it might be tough to put up with her talking about it.

Bobby then suggests hiring someone to "take care of the problem by cursing the BF" and they all laugh, TETSUYA saying that things like that will come back to haunt you.
Bobby: Well I've never tried that myself.
TETSUYA: Don't, or you'll get a curse put on YOU.

Banana says there are actually shrines that sell charms and the like for cursing love rivals.
TETSUYA: Or so I heard!

Bobby: How does it work?
TETSUYA: You make wishes there like, "Please make so-and-so break up". I heard.

They compare the common Japanese "love confession" to the custom in Bobby's country. He says normally, its the men who approach women, but they risk getting mocked if they hit on someone who doesn't like them.
(Bird: Sounds like normal straight relationships to me....)

He also says his culture seriously frowns upon cheating while dating, and that couples pay a lot of attention to each other when dating rather than when they're married.

So to summarise, Bobby's advice is that the guy should try to be friends with his crush and see what happens in the future.

Conversely, Nao has given up on a crush upon finding out that he had a girlfriend, but she wonders if maybe they should have stayed friends.

Joshima used to believe in the attack approach, but since he turned 40 he leans more toward giving up on people if it doesn't work out.

As for Banana...
TETSUYA: HMMM. Well, since they work together, surely they'll get to talk a lot. It's not like school where people get crushes on people they've never spoken to. If he just gets her email and talks to her a lot...

They get sidetracked into talking about those school crushes and how kids usually tease the person they like when they're too young to date ^^
But back on track,
Joshima: In the long run, there's a chance right? I think they should be friends.
TETSUYA: Anyway, if you get to be friends, then.. you can spend time together. But if just being friends would hurt too much, then better give up now.

Bobby: Does this mean guys are only ever friends with girls when they want to be her boyfriend one day?
TETSUYA: Well I know this guy named Bobby who prefers to stay close to people and bother them until they get attention, then they become friends, and he pounces as soon as there's a chance.
Bobby: I'm not like that!

xD

TETSUYA reiterates that the friendship approach is good, but definitely keep her point of view in mind and don't bother her.
TETSUYA: Just be friends and then one day, after she fights with her boyfriend, TADA Bobby is there for her.
They laugh and Bobby continues to insist it's not really about him 8D

Song time!

- Miageta Ryuusei -

Rakugo time~~

Nao has prepared another Rakugo show~
This time it's about names and the kanji used to write them.
(Perfectly untranslatable humour is untranslatable)

She plays on Joshima's name for part of it ^^
It's mostly about how her grandparents had trouble reading her stage name and disagree with the pronunciation of it.
The punch line is about dakuten. 8D;;

Joshima: Your punchlines get better every time.
TETSUYA: Bobby, did you it?
Bobby: Of course I did!

He proves it by explaining the pun and reiterates his interest in the form.
They get to talking about humour and puns and how jokes are almost impossible to translate into another language.

Bobby: When they translate movies, the jokes in the other version are always totally different because the original joke won't work in the other language.

Joshima has a story about how, since he's the leader of TOKIO, sometimes people expect to see Nakai (the leader of SMAP) instead of him when they hear him getting called Leader ^^

TETSUYA: People keep thinking I'm Taro from GLAY.
Joshima: But there's no Taro in GLAY.
TETSUYA: Exactly.

He explains the story about the shop staff "recognising" him as Taro from GLAY to Bobby and Nao XD

After more laughs and mistaken identity and name-related jokes, they go to the next song.

- CHASE -

They are still talking about mistaken identity and Banana says Bobby looks like Somename Ididntcatch.
A song plays for a second so its presumably a musician, and in any case Bobby threatens to sing again 8D

Nao often has people mess up her name and replace the "minami" part with another direction, calling her "Higashisawa" or "Kitasawa" or something instead.

Bobby: I've been mistaken for Ben Johnson before.
TETSUYA: For a benjo? (Slang for toilet seat)
Bobby: NO! Ben Johnson!
TETSUYA: You look like a benjo! 8D

Joshima: What did you know when that happened? What if someone came up like "Oh wow its Ben Johnson!"
Bobby: I pretend to be him. *laughs*
TETSUYA: You pretend to be a benjo 8D

Bobby: But the coolest person I can be is Bobby, because Bobby is the coolest!
TETSUYA: Oh wow, you're Bobby-san!!

Joshima interupts their silliness by asking Nao to read off the infos for the sign off

The end!

8D Goody show is goofy 8D
